bridging alliances across the country,

including in New York, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Hawai’i, California, Washington D.C., and beyond, NSJECS aims to provide youth with stories, histories, and socio-political curriculum against the grain—knowledge dismantling patterns of systemic oppression, while highlighting each region’s unique social justice ecosystem, landscape for community organizing and advocacy, and issues at the core of the region’s foremost movements.

apply for our scholarship today! iN ADDITION TO RECEIVING NEEDS-BASED FUNDING, STUDENTS SELECTED FOR THE nsjecs PROGRAM WILL JOIN A NATIONWIDE nETWORK THAT MEETS ONCE A MONTH, EXPERIENCING CUTTING-EDGE GUEST SPEAKERS, SOCIAL JUSTICE LEARNING SESSIONS FACILITATED BY SOME OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE ACTIVIST MOVEMENTS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE u.s., AND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR EACH SCHOLAR TO SHARE ABOUT THEMSELVES AND THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY’S GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING EFFORTS.

nOT ONLY DOES THE COHORT BRING TOGETHER STUDENTS, ADVOCATES, AND ORGANIZATIONS OF DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS TO CONNECT AND MUTUALLY BUILD SUPPORT ACROSS THE COUNTRY, EACH SCHOLAR WILL SPEND DEDICATED, SELF-GUIDED TIME LEARNING FROM, INTERVIEWING, PARTICIPATING IN, AND CONTRIBUTING, IN FLEXIBILE CAPACITY, TO ONE OR MORE CHOSEN SOCIAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVE IN THEIR CITY OR STATE THROUGHOUT VARIOUS MONTHS OF THE PROGRAM, PRODUCING A CREATIVE REPORT TO SHARE OUT AT THE END.

Scholarship

Youth LOCATED IN A COALITION REGION will BE ELIGIBLE FOR the National Social Justice Education Scholarship application.

  • Two scholarships will be awarded in each of the Hawai’i, South, and East Central regions: One $1,200 prize and one $600 prize, per region

  • Four scholarships will be awarded in each of the NORTHEAST and wEST regions: Two $1,200 prizes and two $600 prizes, per region
